Tan‑y‑Mynydd Trout Fishery — meaning “under the mountain” — is a long-established trout fishing haven set within the tranquil and easily accessible North Wales countryside. Immaculately cared for and thoughtfully managed, the fishery offers a peaceful setting where nature and angling sit in perfect balance.

First dug in 1971, our pools have matured naturally over more than five decades. Rich in aquatic life and natural food, the water produces strong, healthy trout that will test experienced anglers while remaining enjoyable and rewarding for beginners of all ages.

The fishery features three dedicated fly-fishing-only pools, each with its own character and technical challenges. These waters are fully stocked with a varied mix of rainbow, brown, blue, and tiger trout, offering interest and progression throughout the season.

Alongside this, two family-friendly pools encourage multi-method fishing, including bait and fly. These popular waters provide relaxed, inclusive fishing and are ideal for introducing newcomers, young anglers, and families to the sport.

Supporting the on-water experience, our on-site shop is home to FLYREBEL, including Flyrebel Labs and Trout Candy selections, and we are proud to be the first official Maxcatch stockists in Wales, alongside trusted brands such as Fulling Mill and Veniard — all available in-store, with selected items also available online.
